Does Latin America Rely on U.S. Influence?

Mayor Mayer Mizrachi says Chinese influence has been spreading systematically across Latin America for years and the Panama Canal sits at the center of that strategy. He argues that U.S. attention is the single most important factor standing between Panama and Chinese capture of one of the world's most critical trade routes. When America looks away, China will take advantage. That is why he is less concerned about Panama's own political future than he is about what Latin America looks like the moment American attention shifts elsewhere.
