
Allen Guelzo
Allen Guelzo is the senior research scholar in the Council of the Humanities at Princeton University and director of the James Madison Program’s Initiative in Politics and Statesmanship. He was previously a professor of American history at Gettysburg College. A noted Civil War historian, his most recent book is Reconstruction: A Concise History. He is the first two-time winner of the coveted Lincoln Prize for his books Abraham Lincoln: Redeemer President and Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. In 2018, he received the Bradley Prize for his "contributions [which] have shaped important debate, thought, and research on one of the most critical periods of American history."
