Bishop W. C. Martin has faithfully shepherded Bennett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Possum Trot, Texas since 1985, with a brief co-pastoring role elsewhere in the early 2000s. Alongside his wife, Donna, he pioneered a remarkable adoption movement—adopting four children themselves and inspiring 22 church families to adopt a total of 77 of the most difficult-to-place foster children between 1998 and 2003.

Their story became the basis for the 2024 feature film Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, a powerful dramatization of their faith-driven adoption ministry.

Beyond their local community, Bishop Martin has emerged as a national advocate—serving as a keynote speaker and workshop leader on adoption and foster care, and receiving multiple humanitarian honors for his leadership and inspirational example.
