Michael Shermer is the founding publisher of Skeptic magazine and host of The Michael Shermer Show, a podcast on science, reason, and belief. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Why People Believe Weird Things and The Believing Brain, along with Why Darwin Matters, The Moral Arc, and Conspiracy: Why the Rational Believe the Irrational. His latest book is Truth: What It Is, How to Find It, and Why It Still Matters. For eighteen years Shermer wrote a monthly column for Scientific American, and he contributes regularly to the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, Science, and Nature. He holds a Ph.D. in the history of science from Claremont Graduate University and has taught college and university courses in critical thinking for thirty years. His TED talks have been seen by millions. He lives in California with his wife, Jennifer, a native of Cologne, Germany.
